The "Fonds Patrimonial du Jeu de Société" is a unique documentary collection on board games housed at Sorbonne Paris Nord University as part of the “Plateformes fédératives de recherches” project.
Initially created by the Boulogne-Billancourt toy library in the 1970s, the Centre National du Jeu collection has now become the Fonds patrimonial du jeu de société (FPJS).
The FPJS has been labelled a “Collection d'excellence pour la recherche (CollEx)” by the GIS CollEx-Persée since 2022, and has the dual vocation of preserving ludic heritage and building up a major research facility on games.
Three historical collections make up the FPJS:
In 2023, the Tric Trac collection of around 4,000 games joined the FPJS, along with several donations from publishers, game libraries and personal collections.
It is estimated that the FPJS currently comprises around 17,000 board games and 5,000 role-playing games and supplements.
