"Overproduction, a necessary evil ?" by The FIJ in partnership with FORGENEXT (4pm - Audi A/Jean MINEUR)
Every year, thousands of new titles appear on the market, each hoping to capture the attention of an ever wider and more diverse audience. But this abundance, a sign of a dynamic and creative industry, is also accompanied by major challenges: saturation of stores, ecological issues, difficulty for publishers and creators to stand out, and sometimes even frustration for gamers.
Today, we're going to look together at the causes and consequences of this overproduction. Is it the inevitable sign of a healthy market, or a race that could ultimately harm the industry itself? What compromises can be made to strike a balance between creativity, innovation and sustainability?
We've brought together experts, publishers and distributors for this discussion, who will share their perspectives and explore avenues of thought for the future of our shared passion.
Speakers :
- Gauthier Althaus - Iello
- Benjamin Dambrine - Gigamic

"Can tabletop role-playing be a psychotherapeutic tool? Results of a pilot study conducted in Switzerland" by CHUV LAUSANNE (10:30 a.m. - HI5 Studio)
In recent years, there has been a surge of research into the use of tabletop role-playing games as psychotherapeutic tools. In this talk, we will present a pilot study that tested the feasibility and effectiveness of an original intervention capitalizing on “offline” role-playing (around a gaming table and with other gamers) to reduce social anxiety and excessive video game use. The aim of this project was to generate preliminary data prior to using the program with patients at the Centre du jeu excessif of the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (CHUV) in Lausanne.

The aim of our talk is to share our multidisciplinary reflections on this project, and to provide an overview of the interests and limits of this arrangement.

Where do you draw the line between cheating and bending the rules? Depending on the boundaries set, few people have ever cheated, but is cheating really that bad? "Lost In translation" by The FIJ in partnership with FORGENEXT (2.30pm - Audi A/Jean MINEUR)
Today, the globalization of board games is a reality, and the same game can be offered in dozens of languages, in sometimes very different cultures. But localizing a game doesn't just mean translating rules and material: it also means adapting themes, mechanics and even visual elements so that they resonate with each audience. While some universal concepts are easy to convey, others encounter obstacles linked to local values, beliefs and references.
We explore the complex issues involved in localization: what are the creative, economic and cultural choices involved in these adaptations? What strategies do publishers employ to ensure that a game is both faithful to its original version and relevant to new audiences? And above all, is it still possible to localize a game without losing its essence?
Our guests will share their expertise and experiences, to better understand the challenges and opportunities of this essential but complex task.
Speakers :
- Mathieu Rivero - Translator
- Antoine Pronos - Transludis
- David Spichala - Lucky Duck
- Pierre François LLORENTE - Iello
